Complete Check-Mig — Official Migración Colombia WebsiteFree official service
Is Check-Mig mandatory in 2026?
No. Migración Colombia currently states that Check-Mig is not mandatory. It recommends the service because pre-registering travel information can make immigration processing faster.
This page was last verified against official Migración Colombia guidance on 4 September 2026. Immigration rules can change, so confirm the current instructions on the official service before you travel.
What changed?
Older official guidance, and many older travel resources, described Check-Mig as mandatory. Travelers still find that language in search results, airline emails, and forum posts.
Current Migración Colombia pages now describe Check-Mig as a free online service whose use is not obligatory. Official entry and exit instructions also say the pre-registration is optional and suggested, not compulsory.
Migración Colombia was still describing Check-Mig using mandatory language in late 2025. By early 2026, official communications had shifted toward recommending the service, and current official guidance explicitly states that it is not mandatory.
Go-Worldify has not found an authoritative Colombian resolution, circular, or government notice that establishes an exact effective date for this change. Until a primary source does, treat the shift as having occurred between late 2025 and early 2026.
Should I still complete Check-Mig?
Generally yes, if it is convenient. Completing Check-Mig submits travel information before you reach immigration, which Migración Colombia says can make the interview faster and reduce waiting time.
That is a recommendation, not a guarantee. Completing Check-Mig does not promise faster entry, skip immigration, or replace a passport, visa, or any other entry requirement that applies to you.
When can I complete Check-Mig?
Migración Colombia currently states that Check-Mig can be completed from 72 hours before travel until 1 hour before travel.
This is the window for using the Check-Mig service. It is not a legal deadline that decides whether an otherwise eligible traveler may enter Colombia.
72 hours before travel
The official Check-Mig window opens. You can pre-register trip information from this point.
Until 1 hour before travel
The official window closes. Missing this window does not, by itself, mean you cannot enter Colombia under current guidance.
How much does Check-Mig cost?
Official Check-Mig submission is free. Migración Colombia's service does not charge travelers to complete the form.
Check-Mig is free when completed through Migración Colombia's official service. Be cautious of third-party websites charging travelers to complete the form. Go-Worldify does not charge for Check-Mig and is not affiliated with Migración Colombia.
What happens if I don't complete Check-Mig?
Under current official guidance, not completing Check-Mig by itself should not prevent an otherwise eligible traveler from entering Colombia.
You must still satisfy Colombia's normal immigration and entry requirements. That includes a valid travel document and any visa, stay permission, or other condition that applies to your nationality and trip. Check-Mig does not replace those rules.
Do I need Check-Mig when leaving Colombia?
Current Migración Colombia guidance presents Check-Mig as a suggested pre-registration for travelers who intend to enter or leave Colombia through migration control posts. It is recommended to help speed up immigration processing on entry and exit. It is not described as mandatory for departure.
Do land-border travelers need Check-Mig?
Current Migración Colombia Check-Mig guidance addresses Colombian nationals and foreigners who intend to enter or leave through migration control posts. Official entry and exit instructions currently describe the pre-registration as optional and suggested, not obligatory.
Those current official pages do not describe Check-Mig as mandatory for air travel and optional only for land borders. If you are crossing at a land post, follow the instructions at that migration checkpoint and on Migración Colombia's current pages.
What is the official Check-Mig website?
Use only Migración Colombia's official Check-Mig service. Do not treat a paid third-party form site as the government service.
Go-Worldify's Colombia Travel Ready page keeps the official Check-Mig button, the current optional status, and connectivity options in one place. If you also want mobile data after you land, you can review Colombia eSIM options there without treating connectivity as part of immigration.
